David lived 30 years pre-king, 40 years as king, and now closes out his life with a model prayer. His life consisted of heroic acts of bravery (we’ve each had some) to embarrassing bouts with sin (well… we’ve had this too), and now it all wraps up with this his final recorded prayer. Admittedly, his prayer may not be evidenced too well in our own lives…but it could be. David did not reach this deep level of maturity over night and neither will we. One thing that we can do however, is use his prayer as a model for ourselves and grow to be more like David.
