Pastor David Yarger will be joining the Verde Baptist staff as soon as time permits. David led our worship this past Sunday and also at the end of July.
David and Amy have been married nine years and have four children. They will be moving from Virginia as soon as their house sells. Pray for them as they begin packing, as they wait for a buyer for their house, as they make arrangements involved with moving across the country and finding a home here in Cottonwood and as they settle into our community.
We look forward to David’s passion to lead God’s people in authentic, creative and engaging worship and building community that promotes a deeper love and passion for Christ.
The primary responsibility for our Worship Pastor (as with all pastoral staff) is to: mentor, develop and equip men and women to do the work of the ministry. While David himself will be unable to lead all ministry groups (choirs, ensembles, drama, sound, lighting, ushers and visual ministries), he will be mentoring, developing and equipping men and women to do so and will be fully responsible for their success. As a pastor, David will also be available to teach Bible studies, lead small groups and, as time allows, assist in developing additional ministry programming to the betterment of the body at VBC.
Specific areas of responsibility include:
- Planning and leading Sunday morning worship.
- Developing, equipping, leading and mentoring teams of people for technical and media support for worship services.
- Providing pastoral care, leadership and ministry vision for the many musical groups.
- Sharing pastoral duties with other pastors.
- Developing and overseeing vocal and instrumental ensembles, drama and a graded music program.
- Planning major seasonal and/or outreach musicals/dramas throughout the year.
- Overseeing the worship department budget, organization and volunteers.
